STUDENTS LISTED IN 1848

Ten miles north of Fort Towson Spencer Academy was constructed. This was in the early 1840s. In January of 1844, the first school session began. The Presbyterian Board Of Foreign Missions was appointed to oversee the school. Some of the students spoke English, though not many. Most spoke their native language of Choctaw.
